Hundreds of books talk about love, whichever kind of love: romantic, tragic, erotic... But, for me, there is a novel that joins all of them and highlights one especial aspect of love: obsession. A feeling that always appears when we fall in love (at least during a part of the process) and I think no other writer have been able to describe it as Javier García Sánchez does in his novel. It is a book that exudes obsession, goes out from the pages, is out of control; sometimes, you'd wish to become her, the loved woman; sometimes the only thing you want is to close the book and do not open it again. The author gives us not only a stormy story but also an obsessive narrative style. It is a perfect example of symbiosis between content and form: it would be impossible to understand the first without the second. The reader will find himself overwhelmed and without breath before hundreds of pages that do not offer any pause. He will read, stop reading, reread and feel lost but he will also wish to find again the precise moment when he abandoned the characters and their lives, and then he, inevitably, will be captivated by words and feelings. A great challenge.

LA DAMA DEL VIENTO SUR, de JAVIER GARCÍA SÁNCHEZ
LADY OF THE SOUTH WIND, by JAVIER GARCÍA SÁNCHEZ

Hans Kruger is obsessed with Olga Dittersdorf. Although he carries her about with him mentally, Olga does not belong to him, and this realization regularly sends Hans to the nearest bar--and eventually to a sanatorium, where the bulk of the novel takes place as a hypnotic monolog. In examining the tragedy of Hans's infatuation, the author comes closer to the harrowing despair of phenomenology than the historical sequencing of a narrative.
